Love Is Work: Here's How Will Smith Saved His Marriage
Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith are considered one of the few couples in Hollywood who hold the blueprint to a succesful marriage, but that doesn't mean they haven't encountered some hardships along the way.
Speaking with The Sun, the Suicide Squad actor explained that he and Jada saved their marriage by investing in a lot of counseling.
"I've done a lot of marriage counseling," he told the publication. "What happens in a marriage once you do counseling, the truth comes out. You look at each other and you can't imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out."
The actor said they were so brutally honest that it created "a dark moment" between them.
"But for me, it's the dark before the dawn," he said. "When the truth comes out and people have to say who they are and what they think, you get to know who they are."
Will and Jada have been married for 19 years and have two children together: Jaden, 18, and Willow, 15. Will also has a son, Trey, 23, from a previous marriage. They both have previously talked about hard times in their marriage, but had not admitted to attending marriage counseling.
