Oh, Lord! [Watch] Trump Supporter Calls KKK 'Leftist'
When Donald Trump supporters try to match his unapologetic candidness it sounds just as bad as when the Republican hopeful speaks.
Take Jeffery Lord for instance. The political commentator and stark Trump enthusiast called the Klu Klux Klan a “leftist” organization on CNN when defending Trump, the Republican front runner.
Jones actually began the discussion telling Lord how he “agrees” with him about a lot when it comes to people not taking Trump or his voters seriously.
“But there is a dark underside here,” Jones continued. “He is whipping up and tapping into and pushing buttons that are very, very frightening to me and frightening to a lot of people.”
After all, Trump’s refusal to denounce Duke and the KKK is downright scary.
“Playing funny with the Klan, that is not cool,” Jones said before adding, “The Klan is a terrorist organization.”
Lord interrupted to insist that the KKK is instead, “A leftist organization.”
The author of What America Needs: The Case for Trump says he was pointing to historical references when the KKK was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party in the 1870s.
But in a previous CNN interview, which took place two days before, Lord also described former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, who founded the Louisiana-based Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in 1974, as “a hardcore leftist.”
“What difference does it make if you call them leftists? Call them chipmunks!” Jones said. “They kill people. Don’t play games with that.”
Jones continued, “I don’t care how they voted 50 years ago. I care about who they killed.”
“I care about American history,” Lord replied. “It counts.”
Still, what counts most now for the presidential hopeful are votes. Jones pointed out at the top of their heated discussion that Trump is thriving by gaining supporter from prejudiced voters.
“Donald Trump has tried to 'otherize' every other candidate in this race,” he said, “to sort of scare this very small part of the electorate who thinks that all of their problems are the fault of people who don’t look like them.”
