Olivia Pope might have baby problems but Kerry Washington has none. On a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Scandal star hinted that her boss, Shonda Rhimes, might have known about her real-life pregnancy long before anyone else.

Kimmel asked Washington whether it was difficult to film Pope’s abortion storyline knowing she herself was with child. “I don’t know if that was happening at the same time,” she said. The late night host probed a little deeper to find out if Rhimes, who joined Washington onstage, knew she was expecting before her own parents did.

Playing coy, the notoriously private actress said simply, “My parents don’t want me to answer that." Adding with a smile, she told him, “You don’t want me to answer that!”

Rhimes chimed in that she’s “really, really, really excited” for her, while Washington joked, “Shonda really loves babies — more than dogs!”

Washington confirmed her baby news two weeks ago at the Met Gala. She and husband Nnamdi Asomugha are already parents to daughter Isabelle Amarachi, 2.
