Continuing to validate his newfound Rastafarian ways, Snoop Lion has taken another step towards renouncing his former violent ways. The reformed music star has joined one of the great voices of our time, Mr. Tony Bennett, in his "Voices Against Violence" anti-gun campaign.
Bennett, along with his son, Danny Bennett, and the Brady Campaign, launched the initiative, which has officially welcomed Snoop to the team.
Snoop, real name, Calvin Broadus, wasted no time tweeting out a video on Wednesday (May 1) of the OG and the OOG chopping it up about life and their respective journeys to stardom, according to HipHopWired.com.
The iconic crooner remembered teaming up with Harry Belafonte to promote peace and equality during the Selma march almost 50 years ago when the Civil Rights Movement was at its peak. Snoop lamented that he hoped his music, too, could serve as a springboard to encourage broader ways of thinking.
In the video, the power duo promotes the "VAV" campaign by letting the viewer know how to get involved.
At a time when gun control is one of the nation's most heavily publicized and polarizing topics, Snoop has been noticeably vigilant in helping to try and get guns off the streets. He first released the single "No Guns Allowed," featuring Drake, and then chronicled his transformation from West Coast gangsta rapper Snoop Dogg to Rastafarian peace warrior Snoop Lion on a documentary titled Reincarnated.
