'All Eyez On Me' Is Projected To Do Big Numbers In Its Opening Box Office Weekend
Despite some of the negative criticism over All Eyez On Me’s authenticity, the film is still slated to do way bigger numbers at the box office than expected.
The Tupac Shakur biopic is slated to exceed initial projections and gross over $31.2 million opening weekend at the box office. Prior to its release, that number was forecasted to be somewhere in-between $15 and $22 million.
Part of the reason some believe that the movie did well was because of its placement in theaters across the country. According to a Deadline report, All Eyez On Me benefited from “its play in 200 premium large format theaters, which is included in its overall 2,471 theater count,” article author Anthony D’Alessandro wrote.
All Eyez On Me depicts the life of Tupac Shakur and filming for the biopic began back in 2011. Some, like 50 Cent and Jada Pinkett have criticized the movie for certain elements of ‘Pac’s story while others like MC Hammer, The Game, Diddy and Suge Knight all gave the film a thumbs up.
