Nas Says It Was the Right Time for Tour With Lauryn Hill
It's not often that hip hop heads are treated to a tour that unites two artists of the inimitable stature of Nas and Lauryn Hill, so the mere existence of the recently launched Life Is Good/ Black Rage tour still generates excitement. In a recent interview with Fuse, Nas explained how he teamed up with Ms. Hill again 16 years after their classic collaboration "If I Ruled the World."
“I had asked Lauryn to come out at the Summer Jam as a surprise guest in New York, we did that, she came out for Rock the Bells, and I just felt like to be on a tour with someone as talented as Ms. Lauryn Hill, is just…what’s better than that?” he said. “It just felt like the right time and the right two people to do it, those are different styles of rap but me and her kind of fit in the same vein at the same time.”
Nas said he hasn't yet heard a finished version of Hill's new song "Black Rage," after which her portion of the tour is named, but he said she'd played him an a cappella version.
"I'm expecting great things," he said of the tune.
The Life is Good/Black Rage tour kicked off October 29 and continues through New Year's Eve for a Nas-only show at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
