Fat Joe Doesn’t Plan On Changing His Stage Name
Grammy-nominated rapper Fat Joe says he won’t be changing his stage name to drop the “Fat” despite losing weight over the last several years.
In a conversation with Page Six, the host of the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards shared that modifying his recognizable name wouldn’t be a wise financial decision.
“As a business I spent so many millions and millions of dollars marketing Fat Joe that it wouldn’t be smart to change my name now,” the 52-year-old shared.
In other Fat Joe news, he has filed a lawsuit against his accountants, claiming they have stolen millions from him in a “fraudulent scheme,” BET.com reported.
Joe’s assistant Vanessa Rodriguez was fired by longtime CPA Andre Chammas, and after her termination, the rapper began to notice flaws in his business accounts.
The former assistant allegedly obtained a credit card to take out cash advances and pay her child’s school tuition, adding identity theft to the list of illegal activities the rapper alleges his former employee was involved in.
“The bottom line is that, by executing and reaping the benefits of their money-making scheme, BDO and Chammas have committed malpractice and professional negligence, breached the fiduciary duties they owe to Plaintiffs, misappropriated millions of dollars, defrauded Plaintiffs, and been unjustly enriched,” said the “Lean Back” rapper’s lawyers in the court documents.
