Several NBA stars, including Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Rashard Lewis are expected to come out and support a charity benefit game in Houston on Nov. 20 to help former player and coach John Lucas’s foundation, which provides substance-abuse counseling for athletes.
 
Lucas, who announced the game this week, said he is expecting roughly 20 NBA players to compete in what he promises will be a real contest at DelMar Fieldhouse. That number could change slightly depending on if the players accept a collective bargaining proposal before then, ending the NBA lockout.
 
“It’ll be neat for the fans to come out and see,” Lucas told the Associated Press. “It won’t be a celebrity game. It’s going to be a real game. I’m really excited about the competition.”
 
Former NBA stars Robert Horry and Moses Malone will coach the two teams, while Houston Texans football stars Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub will participate in some capacity.
 
Lucas, who played in the NBA from 1976–90, remains a respected figure and an ambassador of the game.
