This past weekend, Nelly joined Snoop Dogg and a host of other surprise guests onstage for a historic moment at Sydney’s Star City Casino during Australia’s Supafest 2011.
The St. Lunatic’s all-star performed his classic hits “Hot in Herre,” “Country Grammar,” and “Grillz” among others before Snoop Dogg went on to do his set, which included “Beautiful,” “What’s My Name?,” and “The Next Episode.” At one point in the evening both stars were joined onstage by Game, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes and Fat Joe, who took a few minutes each to perform unexpectedly.
Afterwards Nelly took a moment to reflect on the gravity of the event.
“That’s what happens when you get a lot of people who really love doing what they do,” he told BET.com. “Because it’s not about the money, it’s not about who’s show it is. It was just about the fans yesterday and about that camaraderie.... Last night was one of those special moments that if you were there you captured it and if you wasn’t then you have to hear about it and 20 years from now the story is gonna be even bigger.”
The platinum-selling rapper also reflected on the his first memories of Snoop. “It was definitely 'Deep Cover,' said Nelly. “You just knew he was a problem. You were just like, ‘Whoa, look at this skinny kid right here’. And you could tell that he was just so new to everything that it wasn’t really surreal to him. He was just there doing his thing. And then you see the evolution of him being a superstar and who he is today.”
Ciara, Keri Hilson, Bow Wow and the New Boys also rocked the stage at Supafest, the biggest hip hop festival in Australia.
