Listen To Meek Mill's First Audio Interview Since His Return To Prison

"I think God put me in this position."

Since returning to prison for “violating” his probation, Meek Mill has become sort of the beacon for criminal justice reform.

Just a few days ago, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft visited the Philly rapper in prison and afterward said Meek’s case was unfortunate and added that “we have to do something with criminal justice reform."

Now, Meek himself is speaking out about his case. In his first audio interview since returning to prison, he says that he always believed that his probation would one day land him back in jail.

"It was always a thought in the back of my mind that 10 years of probation would bring me back to prison," he told NBC’s Lester Holt. Meek also was optimistic about his future.

“I think God deliver me a job or to helping people. Helping minorities that come from these situations like myself,” he said. “I say don't show me no pity, because this is my life. This is what I've been going through. And I think God put me in this position to be able to do a show with Lester Holt and open up eyes for other young Black men.”

Meek Mill was found to be in violation of his probation last year, which resulted in a drawn out legal case that is currently still ongoing. His imprisonment has since shined a light on the validity of the United States’ probation system.
