Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Split
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have decided to call it quits. A rep for the couple released the following standard-issue statement from the couple:
"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
Lopez and Anthony have been married for seven years and have two children, twins Max and Emme. After dating briefly in the 1990s and being friends for years, they made it official in 2004. Their marriage and courtship was controversial from the start: Lopez' abruptly ended her engagement to Ben Affleck and Anthony was in the midst of a divorce from first wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres when they got together.
Still, they seemed among Hollywood's happiest couples as recently as May, when they performed together on the season finale of American Idol. They also renewed their vows just last year, on their sixth anniversary.
This is the third divorce for J.Lo, who had been married twice before: to restauranteur Ojani Noa (they split in 1998) and former backup dancer Cris Judd, to whom she was married from 2001 to 2003. She was also dated Sean "Puffy" Combs. Anthony and first wife Torres share two sons.
While there's no word yet on the cause for the megacouple's sudden split, it appears to be something that happened recently. Idol judge Lopez didn't hold back in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres just this past January, gushing about being a mom and wife. She said, "I want to do this a thousand more times…I love this. This is life." We're sure Jennifer is heartbroken, so we won't point out the sad irony of that statement.
