Eddie Griffin Sued for Homophobic Comedy Skit, Attacking Fan
Eddie Griffin's comedy routine was no laughing matter for a lesbian couple in the audience. The comedian allegedly targeted a woman and her girlfriend in a homophobic skit during his show in Pleasanton, California, last July, and subsequently attacked her with a water bottle after things got tense.
Now the woman is suing the Undercover Brother star, claiming the actor was drunk when he took the stage and then sexually harassed the couple by thrusting his crotch in their faces and making lewd comments.
The situation escalated when the woman threw her drink at Griffin, and he retaliated by dumping a bottle of water on her. The action, according to the woman, prompted the crowd to turn on the couple and throw their drinks as well. The couple was kicked out of the club and Griffin later referred to them on Facebook as "d*** b******."
The victim is now suing for civil rights violations, according to TMZ, as well as discrimination based on sexual orientation. She is seeking unspecified damages from both Griffin and the club.
