Ludacris to Be Honored With 2014 BMI President's Award
"Pimpin' All Over the World" has paid off for ATLien Ludacris as he will receive top honor at the 2014 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards for his global impact. Luda will be presented with the President's Award at this year's Broadcast Music Inc. ceremony, taking place at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on August 22.
With a career that spans over a decade, it's only fitting that the Mouf of the South be recognized for his quick-witted punch lines and rapid-spitting verses. He's also skillfully expanded his brand into the realms of acting, philanthropy and business, receiving critical acclaim for his roles in box office franchises like Fast & the Furious and the Academy Award-winning film Crash, which earned him the Screen Actors Guild and Critics' Choice awards.
As a businessman, the Atlanta native has racked up some serious net worth as well, including his popular liquor Conjure Cognac and SOUL by Ludacris headphones. His generous charitable work with the Ludacris Foundation and his partnership with Artists for Peace and Justice has helped to make him a king among men.
The coveted President's Award is given to "those who demonstrate outstanding achievement in songwriting with profound global influence on culture and the entertainment industry," says BMI President and CEO Mike O' Neil. Luda's songs "traverse boundaries and reach listeners of all genres, making him a global presence.… His philanthropic efforts go beyond measure."
Throughout the years, hits like "My Chick Bad," "How Low" and "Chopped N Screwed" have grabbed Luda nine BMI Pop Awards and 13 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards (not to mention his three Grammys, nine BET Awards, and multiple American Music Award nominations).
He will join the ranks of music giants like Adam Levine, will.i.am and Pitbull, who have also received the President's Award.
Always working, Ludacris is expected to drop his new album, Ludaversal, this fall.
