Rigged? Here’s Why Election Experts Are Urging Hillary Clinton to Call for a Recount in Swing States

Although a long shot, it could be worth it in the end.

A small group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers are heavily urging Hillary Clinton to call for a recount in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, three swing states won by Donald Trump, reported New York Magazine

Voting-rights attorney John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, and several other experts believe they’ve found legitimate evidence that the results in the three swing states may have been manipulated or hacked.

The group of activists now focused on privately persuading the Clinton team to act.

  • Just 3 days after the election, Bonifaz has publicly called for an audit of the election results

According to the group’s findings, Clinton received seven percent fewer votes in Wisconsin counties that relied on electronic-voting machines. Based on these statistics, Clinton may have been denied as many as 30,000 votes; she lost Wisconsin by 27,000.

  • Many fear the Russian hacking that targeted the DNC could have affected electronic voting machines

The recount would need to overturn the results in both Wisconsin (10 Electoral College votes) and Pennsylvania (20 votes), and Hillary would need to win Michigan’s not apportioned 16 for her to win the Electoral College.

  • Now, many are calling for Clinton to demand to file for recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania before it's too late

According to the activists, the deadline in Wisconsin to file for a recount is Friday; in Pennsylvania, it’s Monday; and Michigan is next Wednesday.

If Clinton wants to move forward with a recount, it's now or never.
