Larry Wilmore Calls Giuliani's Obama Comments 'Racist'
Larry Wilmore didn't pull any punches while discussing former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's recent comments about President Obama. The Nightly Show host played audio of Giuliani saying he believes Obama "doesn't love America," and that the president "was not raised like we were raised, with love of country."
After deliberating whether or not to play the "race card," Wilmore couldn't hold it in any longer. "You know what, f**k that s**t. That's racist. It is," he said. He also called the ex-mayor a "colossal prick" for using 9/11 as moral high ground for attacking the president.
"Most of the world came together after that happened," Wilmore said. "In fact, it was such a powerful, intoxicating event that, for a brief shining moment, the entire world forgot what a colossal prick you are!"
Before going in on Giuliani for his incendiary comments, Wilmore riffed about Sunday night's Academy Awards ceremony, praising Neil Patrick Harris for addressing the lack of diversity at this year's Oscars, but then calling him out for later treating Octavia Spencer, who he tasked with guarding a lockbox containing his Oscar predictions, like "the help."
