Mary J. Blige Provides New Scholarship To Hampton University
The legendary singer is looking to support women at the HBCU.
A new scholarship program created by Mary J. Blige has selected Hampton University as a beneficiary.
The legendary singer’s Strength of a Woman Scholarship is for current college sophomores at the HBCU who identify as female. Recipients of the grant money will receive $30,000.

To be eligible, applicants must:
- Self-identify as female
- Be a current college sophomore undergraduate at Hampton University
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at Hampton University for the entire 2024 – 2025 academic year
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
- Pepsico employees and children of Pepsico employees are ineligible.
- Be pursuing one of the following degrees: Business Administration, Marketing, Arts, Finance, Creative Design
The scholarship is renewable for up to one year or until a bachelor’s degree is earned (whichever statute occurs first). Perspective recipients also must maintain a satisfactory academic performance (earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled full-time in an eligible major at Hampton.
