Darren Sharper Charged With Rape
Former NFL star Darren Sharper was charged with rape in Las Vegas on Friday.
According to the Associated Press, police and prosecutors are focusing on a series of alleged drug-and-attack cases against the ex-NFL safety in cities such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans and the Phoenix area. In Vegas, Sharper was slapped with two sexual-assault charges, accusing him of having sex with two tourists while the women were allegedly drugged and unconscious in January 2014. Each of the two charges carries a sentence of 10 years to life in Nevada state prison.
Sharper still faces similar charges in California, Louisiana and Arizona for the other similar drug-and-attack accusations and cases against him involving eight more women. Sharper, 39, has been jailed since last month.
Sharper, a former All-Pro, played 14 seasons in the NFL for the likes of the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, having won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2010. His next court hearing is set for April 3.
