Ndamukong Suh stepping on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going to cost him.

On Monday, the NFL suspended the star defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions' wild-card game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Suh "unnecessarily stepped on [the] opponent's unprotected leg as he lay on the ground unable to protect himself," the league wrote in a statement, as reported by ESPN.

Suh is appealing the ruling. If the ruling stands and Suh misses Sunday's playoff game, the Lions will certainly miss his presence. 

"I don't know if you can put it into words," Lions safety James Ihedigbo told ESPN. "He's a dominant force in our defense. He's kind of the key centerpiece. We have faith in guys that can step up and fill that void and do the best job they can to get this win and help us out. It's unfortunate, whatever way you want to slice it. You're losing one of your best defensive players and one of the best D-linemen in the league; it's unfortunate."

Suh has had quite a few plays that were deemed dirty by the NFL before. Last season the league slapped him with a $100,000 fine for an illegal low block on Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan. Back in 2011, he was suspended for two games for stomping down on the arm of former Packers center Evan Dietrich-Smith.

Suh is set to be a free agent at the end of this season, and many critics think he won't be back with Detroit.
