While most have been praising the young woman some criticized her comments. Perhaps most surprisingly was her olympic teammate Gabby Douglas.

After recently taking to Twitter to point out that a woman’s dress should have zero influence on how men can approach them, Douglas quoted her tweet and basically dismissed it for reasons unknown.

"However it is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy,” Douglas wrote. “Dressing in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd."

This prompted damn near everyone to react. Even Simone Biles decided to put sexual assault awareness over team relations. She says Gabby’s statement brought her “to tears.”

“Shocks me that I’m seeing this but it doesn’t surprise me... honestly seeing this brings me to tears bc as your teammate I expected more from you & to support her,” Biles wrote. “I support you Aly 💕 & all the other women out there! STAY STRONG.”

Predictably, Gabby Douglas apologized, however the damaged already seemed done, especially when she replied to a Twitter user with the tweet “it goes both ways,” pulling an irreversible “on many sides” in the process.

“I didn’t correctly word my reply &  i am deeply sorry for coming off like i don’t stand alongside my teammates. regardless of what you wear, abuse under any circumstance is never acceptable. i am WITH you. #metoo,” she wrote.

We’re not sure how it could’ve been worded in a way that victims aren’t the cause of their abuse, but uh… Anyway, as previously mentioned, Twitter had already come for Gabby. See what some people had to say below.
