Justin Hires Half of the Leading Duo in CBS' Rush Hour Pilot
Justin Hires, who's played roles in 21 Jump Street, Stomp the Yard and Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, was cast in the TV pilot adaptation of the film Rush Hour, Variety reports. He will play the LAPD detective role originated by Chris Tucker. Jon Foo has been cast opposite Hires in the role that Jackie Chan made popular in the buddy flick.
In keeping with the film's theme, the show will follow odd couple cop duo Lee and Carter. Whereas Lee, played by Foo, is strictly by the book, Hires' character, Carter, is a cocky and irreverent "by any means necessary" LAPD officer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, offers were made to Damon Wayans Jr., T.I. and Kid Cudi before Hires ultimately landed the role.
