Mother Of Keaton Jones Says The Photos Of Her Holding A Confederate Flag Were 'Funny,' And People Aren’t Here For It

Kimberly Jones spoke to Good Morning America and skirted around allegations of racism in the family.

After the story of Keaton Jones, who was allegedly bullied at middle school in Tennessee, went viral and received attention from numerous celebrities, controversial posts from the child's mother garnered negative attention.

Kimberly Jones shared the emotional video of her son to Facebook; however, after some people looked through her page, they found several images of her holding up a Confederate flag, which is associated as a symbol of racism.

After the backlash from the photos became more spoken about than her son, Kimberly had to answer to the allegations of racism.

  • During an appearance on 'Good Morning America,' Kimberly said the photos were meant to be 'funny'

"It was meant to be ironic and funny and extreme. I am genuinely truly sorry. If I could take it back, I would," Jones told GMA.

In a separate interview with CBS This Morning, Jones elaborated further and said she has been the target of bullying because she isn't racist.

"The only two photos — the only two photos on my entire planet that I am anywhere near a Confederate flag. It was ironic. It was funny," Jones told CBS.

Jones was then asked if the photos had any racist implications, and she said they had nothing to do with race.

"No. No. Absolutely not. I've said I spent most of my life being bullied and judged because I wasn't racist," Jones added.

  • Although Kimberly claimed the photos were meant to be funny, many people were missing the joke

  • Others felt as though the interview did not fully handle the allegations
