Court Is In Session: ‘Judge Steve Harvey’ Show Announces Its Premiere
One of Hollywood’s hardest-working celebs is busier than ever.
Steve Harvey will share his wit and wisdom from behind a judge’s bench and with gavel in hand on a new ABC show named Judge Steve Harvey, premiering Jan. 4., the network reports.
Cases will range from family disputes, unpaid bets, sour friendships–all from real people–in the hour long unscripted comedy series. Harvey, one of the Original King of Comedy, doesn’t have a law degree but will base rulings “on his own life experiences and some good old common sense.”
"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to continue my fruitful partnership with ABC and collaborate with them on my next venture," Harvey said. "Viewers tuning into 'Judge Steve Harvey' will watch as I tackle tough and, at times, entertaining issues while also providing much-needed advice and good old-fashioned common sense to the litigants in my court."
Over the decades, Harvey has hosted his own talk show, the popular game show Family Feud, a radio syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show and even penned several books.
“I’m running from homelessness. I can’t ever be in that position again,” Harvey explained to PEOPLE in a 2019 interview. “If my show gets canceled, I’ve got three more. I don’t have any free time, but I have 12 jobs.”
