Karl-Anthony Towns Reveals How Jordyn Woods Helped Him Grieve The Loss Of His Mom

The NBA star appeared on the Oct. 18 episode of ‘Peace of Mind with Taraji.’

NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns suffered immense grief after losing eight of his relatives, including his mother, to COVID-19. Still, on a journey to overcome the tragic losses, the Minnesota Timberwolves center is thanking his girlfriend, Jordyn Woods, who has been with him every step of the way.

During the Oct. 18 episode of Taraji P. Henson’s Facebook Watch series Peace of Mind with Taraji, the 25-year-old opened about his relationship with Woods, grieving the loss of his family members and the coronavirus.

“That day changed me as a man,” he said of losing his mother. “I’m never going to get that innocent boy back. … Ever since that day I feel like the world made me a little bit colder.”

Towns said Woods was there for him during such a dark time in his life.

“A woman that meant so much to me in my life left my life to be replaced by another woman to take that spot,” he told Henson with a smile, confirming he was referring to Woods when she asked. “We were best friends … When my mom passed she was like, ‘I’m not going to leave you alone. I’m going to make sure you know who you’re supposed to be with.’”

The couple has also publicly shared that their bond has a special connection because Woods lost her father, John Woods, who died in 2017.

“I leaned on her because she’s one of the only people who would actually know how I was feeling and what I was going through because she was super close with her father just like I was super close with my mother,” he said.

Jacqueline Cruz-Towns passed away on April 13 after being placed in a coma after contracting COVID-19. She was 59-years-old.
