Moschino is in hot water!

Shamael Lataillade, a former sales supervisor, is suing the Italian luxury retailer Moschino for discrimination. The Haitian-American woman worked in the West Hollywood location since 2015 and says that she was wrongfully fired last spring after complaining to corporate for a second time about her manager.

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Lataillade is claiming that her former manager created a hostile work environment, claiming that her manager would use a code name for non-celebrity Black shoppers calling them “Serena” and would encourage staff members to “closely watch” and follow them around the store and claiming that her former manager would even go as far as to make employees write down license plate numbers of Black clients. 

Lataillade also says in the suit that her former manager harassed her, calling her “ghetto” and a “thief,” stating that she “practiced voodoo” to mock her Haitian heritage, and on more than one occasion, drew attention to her “natural, kinky hair,” allegedly saying the style was not a “professional look.” The young woman also claims that her manager allegedly stole some of her commissions and didn’t allow her mandatory vacation days or clothing allowance as promised by Moschino.

As reported by TMZ, Moschino denied Lataillade's claims, stating that it “complies with applicable equal employment laws and values and respects all customers and clients regardless of their race or background.”

Lataillade is suing the high-end retailer for unspecified damages.
