2017 has undoubtedly proved itself to be the year of Cardi B. Fresh on the heels of gracing Rolling Stone's "Hot Issue," in true form, up close and raw, the burgeoning femcee is now dazzling the glossy cover of New York Magazine. 

In the illustrious December issue, the "Bodak Yellow" breakout star speaks at great length on fufilling a "dream," her whirlwind romance with fellow rapper Offset, and naturally having choice words for her haters. But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of Cardi's sit down with the renowned publication is her clarification of her stance on feminism. 

Ahead of her overwhelming success, Cardi was heralded for her larger-than-life social media persona and often crowned a modern-day feminist by fans. The lofty archetype, however, eventually proved to be too overbearing for the former reality TV star. “You know what? I’m not even gonna consider myself nothing,” she says when asked if she would call herself a feminist. “Here’s the thing that b*tches got me f*cked up when it comes to that word. People think that being a feminist is a b*tch that, like, went to school."

"They wear skirts all the way to their motherf*cking ankles like a goddamn first lady," she continues. "That’s not being a feminist. Being a feminist is being equal to do what a man do. Ni**as hustle, and I hustle ni**as.”

This isn't the first time Cardi has dismissed the traditional context of feminism. Last December, the rapper added her own zest to the term during an Instagram rant of sorts. But, now it appears as though Cardi is distancing herself from the movement altogether.
