Sherri Shepherd To Be Reportedly Named ‘Permanent Guest Host’ Of ‘Wendy Williams Show’
Sherri Shepherd will reportedly be named the “permanent guest host” of The Wendy Williams Show amid Willams’ ongoing health hiatus since Sept. 2021.
Variety notes that Shepherd has been in “advanced discussions” with Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury for her own daytime talk show, which could possibly replace the “How You Doin’?” series.
The Wendy Williams Show is currently in its 13th season but the host, who suffers from Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder, has been absent from the show since late 2021 and 2022 with guests hosts, including Shepherd, filling in for her.
The 57-year-old also has been battling undisclosed health issues but has periodically updated her fans during her absence.
“Wendy is doing fabulous,” Williams said in December 2021 as she exited a Miami wellness center, BET previously reported.
News also broke that the Hollywood Walk of Famer would not be returning to her hit show until at least March 2022.
Shepherd is scheduled to take the “Hot Topics” seat again from Feb. 21 to Feb. 25. While host Michael Rapaport will make his return to the set from Feb. 28 to March 4.
Fat Joe and Remy Ma, as well as Bevy Smith and Terrence J, will also appear as guest hosts during the month of February, Deadline cites.
