Lil B Admits to Being Transphobic After Tweeting Offensive Joke
Lil B is supposed to be a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment in the hip hop community, but a joke he made on Twitter Monday night was nothing short of offensive and ignorant. "I might start saying I'm trans and I'm a woman so I can be in the girls Locker room with the ladies !!!!!! No homo I'm still growin - Lil B," he wrote.
The comment led to swift and decisive backlash from his one million followers, who accused him of of transphobia. The criticism must have sparked something in Lil B, and for the next hour or so he went on an epic Twitter monologue both apologizing for his comments and contemplating his own prejudices.
"Ok well I already got enough backlash so I feel bad now and I apologize to all humans and I see that everyone goes thru struggles," he began, somewhat dismissively. "I got love for the gays! I got love for humans I want to attract more good people and women that love me! Not men turned women."
When that didn't get the response he was hoping for, he dug deeper. "I'm still growing and this new science is very new to me this surgery stuff from man to women is different but I'm I respect humans," he wrote, prompting one of his followers to explain to him the concept of transitioning.
After several more tweets detailing his struggle to understand the meaning of transgender (though his appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter made us believe he would be more sensitive to these matters), B finally admitted, "I am transphobic and I need help to learn to accept I'm scared because I'm not comfortable with my self I love u I love born girls."
He concluded the epic thought train by going back to his core message of positivity. "I wanna say I love you and I apologize for that transphobic comment I made today and shows how immature and still insensitive I am," he wrote, adding that he understands comparisons between transphobia and racism. "My heart hurts because I have been cruel to people and I still think mean things about people because I'm not comfortable with self."
