Report: B.B. King Hospitalized in Las Vegas
B.B King was hospitalized in Las Vegas over the weekend due to issues related to diabetes. According to TMZ, the 89-year-old blues legend was rushed to an area hospital close to his home, where he remains.
Official details behind the medical emergency have not been made public, although a source told TMZ that he was dehydrated. King was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes more than 25 years ago and has spoken publicly about keeping his health in check by doing things like managing his glucose levels.

In the past, the Mississippi-born musician has mentioned his parents’ health ailments as a motivator to keep his diabetes on track. “My father died at 87, and the only thing I know is that he had high blood glucose and gout,” he recalled. “My mother died when I was 9. I think she went blind before she died. It must have been related to diabetes. Nobody knew what to do at that time. We were people living out in the country. We didn’t have all the modern conveniences like blood glucose testing.”
Complications from diabetes forced King to cancel his U.S. tour last year.
