EXCLUSIVE: Biden Campaign Plans Black Media Rollout To Reach Black Voters

Beginning on February 14, the campaign will run ads in battleground states and on several Black media platforms.

In honor of Black History Month, the Biden-Harris campaign is launching a mass outreach effort to connect with Black voters across the country. From Feb. 14 (Wednesday) through Feb. 26 (Monday), the radio, print, and digital ads will highlight President Joe Biden’s “commitments to and accomplishments for Black America.”

According to a statement exclusively provided to BET.com, the ads will run in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Phoenix markets and on national radio stations across iHeart platforms such as The Breakfast Club, Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell, The Morning Hustle, and more.

On February 19 (Monday), print ads will launch in Black newspapers across battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Titled “Possibilities,” the digital ad will spotlight the Biden-Harris administration’s historic $ 7 billion investment in HBCUs, which includes $3.6 billion from the American Rescue Plan, “$1.6 billion in capital finance debt relief for 45 HBCUs, and $1.7 billion in grant funding to support academic capacity and low-income students.”

In support of HBCUs, the Biden-Harris administration has hosted HBCU trailblazing student journalists from across the country at the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris’ “Fight for Our Freedoms” college tour and reestablished the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and more.

“Possibilities” will also run across streaming platforms during the 2024 NBA x HBCU Classic, where Virginia Union will face Winston-Salem State on Saturday, Feb. 17 as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend.

Quentin Fulks, Biden-Harris Principal Deputy Campaign Director, issued a statement noting the Biden administration’s track record of progress with African Americans.

“President Biden has demonstrated his commitment to Black America from Day One by building a team of historymakers, including Kamala Harris, the first Black woman vice president in history and General Lloyd Austin, the first Black secretary of defense,” Fulks said.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are delivering on their promises to America by ushering in historically low Black unemployment as well as overseeing the fastest creation rate of Black-owned small businesses in decades. Not to mention investing over $7 billion in HBCUs, and forgiving $137 billion in student loan debt so far."

“We know there is more work to do. The fundamental choice in this election is between Joe Biden, who wakes up every day thinking about how he can make Americans’ lives better, and thinking about how he can make his life better—even if that comes at the expense of hardworking American people,” Fulks continued.
