Explosives Addressed To Senator Cory Booker In Florida And CNN In New York

The office of Diane Feinstein was also on high alert after a suspicious package was delivered.

UPDATE OCT. 26:

Two more explosive devices — one addressed to Senator Cory Booker and the other to former director of national intelligence James R. Clapper — were discovered at postal offices in Florida and New York.

The package sent to Clapper was addressed to CNN’s offices in New York, which is where the explosive sent to former C.I.A. director John O. Brennan was addressed, reported the New York Times.

The package addressed to Booker, D-N.J., was discovered at a postal facility in Opa-lock, Florida. Investigators say they now have reason to believe a number of the devices were mailed from South Florida and passed through a mail facility near Miami, reported NBC News.

Many high profile people who have been vocal about their opposition to Trump have been on high alert. A suspicious package was found at the offices of Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein's in West Los Angeles Thursday evening.

Police arrived on the scene and received the package, which they later confirmed contained a compact disc. The envelope was not addressed to the senator.

A bomb squad also confirmed following examination that the package did not include an explosive device, according to ABC 7.

UPDATE OCT. 25:

Two explosive devices in packages similar to ones sent to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were sent to former Vice President Joe Biden and one was delivered to the New York offices of Robert De Niro.

According to the FBI, the package addressed to Biden was discovered at a postal facility in New Castle, Delaware, and another was found at a postal facility in Wilmington, Delaware. The packages were recovered on Thursday, reported NBC News.

A building worker in Tribeca said he found the suspicious package addressed to De Niro at 375 Greenwich Street, which houses De Niro's Tribeca Productions and his restaurant Tribeca Grill. Thankfully, the building was empty and there was no need to evacuate, police said.

So far, eight different high profile Democrats or people who oppose the Trump administration haven been sent the explosives.  In addition to Clinton, Obama, and George Soros packages were also addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, former Attorney General Eric Holder, and Rep. Maxine Waters, who was sent two bombs.

While many have condemned the attack on people who have been called the “enemy,” President Trump is still blaming the media for the “anger” we see in the country.

Secret Service agents intercepted explosive devices that were sent to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A similarly suspicious package was almost mailed to the CNN’s offices in New York, sparking an intense investigation into whether bombs were being sent to those labeled as “enemies of the people” by the far right.

On Monday, an explosive was found at the home of George Soros, the liberal billionaire donor who is also frequently attacked by hardcore conservatives and conspiracy theorists such as Alex Jones.

While none of the devices harmed anyone, the Time Warner Center, a major office complex in Midtown Manhattan, was evacuated after the device was discovered.

It remains unclear if the packages were all sent by the same person, reported The New York Times.

The first packages were reported Wednesday morning when Secret Service revealed the agency “intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to Secret Service protectees,” who were later identified as Clinton and Obama.

The device addressed to Clinton in Westchester County was found late on Tuesday by a Secret Service employee who screens mail for her, the statement said. The package addressed to Obama was intercepted early on Wednesday by Secret Service personnel in Washington, D.C.

The Secret Service released a statement which said: “The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such. The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them.”

The agency confirmed they “initiated a full scope criminal investigation that will leverage all available federal, state, and local resources to determine the source of the packages and identify those responsible.”

The device sent to Soros’ home in Westchester County was constructed from a six-inch-long pipe filled with explosive powder. The device was “proactively detonated” by bomb squad technicians, reported the Times.

Law enforcement agencies are now examining possible ties between the packages sent to Obama, Clinton and CNN and the one sent to Soros.
