Rick Ross Addresses Michael Brown Murder on 'Black & White' Remix
Although his funeral was last month, the death of Michael Brown continues to weigh heavy on Rock Ross. The MMG boss dropped a remix to his Mastermind song "Blk & Wht" and on it, he addresses the lingering emotions felt in Ferguson and beyond.
"Wanna gun me to the ground like I'm Michael Brown/Settled in the projects, now they tear it down," he spits on the "Black & White (Remix)" amid verses from Killer Mike and MMG signees Stalley and Gunplay.
The hook gets a remake referencing the exasperation in Ferguson as well, "Tear gas all through the night," Ross reminds. "N-----s thuggin' out in Ferguson/So get it right."
Earlier this summer, Ross appeared on the Game-delivered tribute to the tragedy, "Don't Shoot," one of many ways the music community has given voice to the collective consciousness. The Justice Department also recently responded, launching an investigation into the practices of the local police department.
Mastermind is Ross's sixth studio album. It was released in March and landed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
