Cory Booker Invites Hurricane Victims to His House

Amid Hurricane Sandy-related property damage and power outages, Cory Booker invited a few local residents to come “relax” at his house and take advantage of his electricity, heat and DVD player since their storm-hit homes were without such amenities.

Newark Mayor Cory Booker has already made a name for himself as being the super-responsive “super mayor” that can respond to Twitter cracks and save residents from burning buildings in a single bound, but his latest act during Hurricane Sandy might have mayors the world over trying desperately to up their street cred.

Amid Hurricane Sandy-related property damage and power outages, Booker invited a few local residents to come “relax” at his house and take advantage of his electricity, heat and DVD player since their storm-hit homes were without such amenities.

After a Newark resident tweeted frustration over the lack of electricity at her home when others on her block had service, Booker tweeted, “There is someone at my house now (Eric). I've got space u can relax in, charge devices & even a working DVD player. Come by @my_serenelove”

Not only did @my_serenelove come to “hang” at Booker’s, he later tweeted that he was ordering lunch for the “12 or so” people hanging out at his place.
