Boxing Champion Errol Spence Jr. In ICU After Severe Car Crash In Dallas
CBS DFW is reporting that welterweight boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. is in serious condition in the intensive care unit after a severe car crash early Thursday (October 10th) morning.
The crash only involved one vehicle, Spence’s Ferrari, and it occurred on Riverfront Boulevard near I-30 in downtown Dallas.
Police say the Ferrari was traveling at a very high rate of speed and the vehicle went over the center median and flipped multiple times, ejecting Spence. Police also confirm he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Spence, a DeSoto resident, recently unified the welterweight division with his win over Shawn Porter on September 28th. Spence is the reigning IBF and WBC champ.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Information will be released when available.
Spence is expected to survive. Prayers up to Errol and his family.
