OutKast to Co-Headline 2014 Coachella Music Festival
OutKast will mark their official reunion in a major way, co-headlining this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, it was announced late Wednesday (Jan. 8).
Last night, Big Boi confirmed the very news that OutKast fans have been waiting for by retweeting a post from Atlanta's 107.9 radio. Neither he nor Andre 3000 have released a statement on the gig, but rumors that their Coachella reconciliation was in the works started back in November.
The ATLiens join Arcade Fire and Muse in anchoring the annual music festival, returning back to its Indio, Calif., stomping grounds this spring, and fans and fellow recording artists are already amped for the rap duo's return. "Outkast [is] performing this year so there's not long left for me to live... #Dies" tweeted Iggy Azalea yesterday, while rapper Thurzday wrote, "I'm still buggin out that OutKast is playin Coachella," this morning.
For the second year in a row, Coachella will span over two weekends beginning April 11-13 and picking back up April 18-20. Others on the bill include Nas, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Ferg, Solange, Lana Del Rey, Skrillex, Kid Cudi, Chance the Rapper, Jhené Aiko, plus more than 50 other acts.
Tickets go on sale Friday (Jan. 10) at 1 p.m. EST via coachella.com.
Launched in 1999, Coachella lost nearly $1 million in its inaugural year and has grown to become the most successful music festival in the country, raking in $43.7 million in 2013 alone.
