Michael Irvin: Marriott Releases Vulgar Details Of Accusation
Marriott International delivered their motion on Friday (March 10), detailing their version of what happened between former NFL wide receiver Michael Irvin and a female hotel employee in Phoenix during Super Bowl LVII.
According to USA Today Sports, the Pro Football Hall of Famer maintains his innocence after a female hotel employee at Marriott’s Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel, accused the football commentator of an inappropriate interaction.
In the 28-page motion, Marriott says that Irvin waved down the accuser and behaved aggressively toward his unnamed accuser. He appeared to be “visibly intoxicated” at the time, according to the filing, which contradicts Irvin’s account of the incident.
He allegedly shook her hand, told her she was attractive, and asked if she watched football.
“Irvin also reached out and touched the Victim’s arm during this conversation without her consent, causing her to step back, becoming visibly uncomfortable. Irvin then asked the Victim whether she knew anything about having a “big Black man inside of [her]," the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit reads that Irvin attempted to grab the victim’s hand once more, stating he was “sorry if he brought up bad memories for her.”
“The victim pulled her hand away and tried to back away from Irvin as he continued to move towards her.”
Irvin filed a $100 million defamation lawsuit on Feb. 9, alleging the hotel and the employee wrongfully accused him of misconduct.
Irvin said he was removed from his hotel room without an explanation. He was also removed from the NFL Network’s coverage of the Super Bowl.
In a press conference earlier this week, Irving continued to dismiss the allegations as false.
“This sickens me,” he said. “Because in this great country this takes me back to a time where a white woman would accuse a Black man of something, and they would take a bunch of guys that were above the law, run into the barn, put a rope around his foot, and drag him through the mud and hang him by the tree.”
According to Dallas Morning News, federal judge Amos Mazzant said Marriott “blatantly” disobeyed his request to provide surveillance footage of the incident.
