His New Orleans Pelicans failed to make the playoffs, but Anthony Davis posted another stellar season, averaging 28 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in a year in which he was also crowned the All-Star Game's MVP.

But none of those accolades helped when it came to getting entry into a certain West Hollywood restaurant earlier this week. With the Pelicans in Los Angeles to play the Lakers on Tuesday night, Davis and some of his teammates stopped by Katana, a trendy Japanese restaurant on Monday night. And when they did, they were rejected at the door. 

Why? Well, get this — reportedly because Davis was wearing a hoodie. Really?

According to the New York Post's Page Six, a doorman informed Davis that he couldn't come in because of his hoodie. The 24-year-old NBA superstar let the doorman know that he couldn't take off his hoodie because he was only wearing a sleeveless T-shirt underneath and even offered to rent a private room at the eatery, but the doorman stood firm on his ruling.

“Davis was pleading with the doorman, saying, ‘Me and my teammates just want to get something to eat,’" a witness told the New York City tabloid about the incident. "He said he couldn’t take off the hoodie because he was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt underneath. Davis even offered to spend a fortune to rent the private room, but the doorman said, ‘No you can’t come in wearing a hoodie.’" 

That's when Davis hopped back into his SUV and left, with the witness adding that "only then did the restaurant manager come running out, freaking out at the doorman.”

Too late. There's so much wrong about this. Instead of letting Davis and his teammates into the restaurant, Katana will have to hold this L over this wave of bad publicity that it brought on itself.
