M.I.A. Has a New Album Coming Sooner Than You Think
M.I.A. is set to release a new album and it’s coming within two months.
Last night (May 17), during a Periscope Q&A, the U.K. songstress announced that she’s slated to drop a new project in “July.”
“[I realized] you can make a record that’s happy about surviving,” she said of the forthcoming album’s make-up through the Periscope video. “And not constantly talk about fight. At the end of the day, I feel like, maybe this is totally gibberish to everyone, but it’s probably better to remind people about survival than it is about the moment you go to battle. Because that’s just a moment.”
Recently, M.I.A. tweeted that the album would be her last and was toying with Matahdatah as the title. The upcoming album will be her fifth solo effort and first since 2013’s Matangi. Interestingly, M.I.A. also relayed that a collaboration with Rihanna couldn’t happen because of conflicting schedules.
