Nicki Minaj Breaks Out New Fendi Collection With New Music
Nicki Minaj isn’t done yet. Three weeks ago, the “Megatron” rap superstar announced that she was retiring to start a family with her rumored fiancé, Kenneth Petty. She later rectified with her fans that her “tweet was abrupt [and] insensitive", with a promise to address it on her Apple podcast. Whatever the case may be, Onika is back on her A-game with a new single ahead of her exclusive “Fendi Prints On” collaboration with the legendary Italian fashion house.
Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock coaxed the New York-bred MC out of her break for “Fendi,” his latest lavishly produced record. The Barbz had less than 12 hours to prepare for the return of hip-hop's reigning queen, taking fans by surprise when she suddenly announced the single was on its way alongside a brief preview on her Instagram.
"Midnight TONIGHT," she wrote.
Last week, Nicki revealed to Elle that the esteemed fashion empire of Fendi approached her to work with them on a capsule collection after she gave them a shout out on her hit song "Chun Li" from her Queen album.
The single, crafted by hip-hop’s most in-demand beatmaker Murda Beatz, dropped shortly after midnight on Wednesday (Sept. 25). While fans will have to wait a little longer to cop pieces from the collection ahead of its Oct. 14 roll-out, they can feel in their in bag 24/7 with Nicki's newest studio offering. Fittingly, it's an ode dedicated to all things luxe.
"Fendi" kicks off with Nicki immediately declaring it's her "favorite song.” The baton passes to PnB Rock, who pops off with “shawty got swag, she rocking Fendi, it's all on her boots.”
Nicki continues the Fendi love, spitting, “It's Fendi, it's poppin', and we on and poppin',” and polishes her verse off with a nod to her relationship with Petty.
Alongside the track, Fendi previewed a taste of what the 127-piece collection will look like with a summer-themed visual. In the one-minute clip, Nicki models a number of pink styles from the line, including a curve-hugging, logo-stamped hot pink bodycon dress amidst a group of models clad in metallic silver pieces.

Despite the small window, the Barbz were ready and in formation to celebrate the return of their Queen. Fans have already declared "Fendi" a certified bop. While fans aren't certain how much longer the femcee will be around, the Barbz are basking in the moment.
"Queen you didn’t have to snap this hard omg," one fan commented.
