Kendrick Lamar’s ‘We Cry Together’ Short Film to Screen Exclusively At L.A. Theater
Kendrick Lamar’s song “We Cry Together” was one of the most talked about on his new album Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Its cinematic nature provides for the possibility of a music video, or even more.
Crafted as a polarizing epic, featuring Taylour Paige, “We Cry Together” reveals an emotionally abusive romance and how the cyclical presence of trauma exists in relationships. Now, after the dust has settled following the highly-anticipated LP’s release, K Dot is giving a limited number of fans an opportunity to see the short film made using the song as its basis.
According to Laemmle.com, the film is described as “a performance from Taylour Paige and Kendrick Lamar, ‘We Cry Together,’ presented by pgLang,” and will make its debut on Thursday, June 9. The film announcement comes on the heels of Taylour Paige teasing a potential video for the song on her Instagram page last month.
Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it the Compton rapper’s fourth No. 1 album. The record also received the most first-day streams on Apple Music in 2022.
Tickets for We Cry Together are currently all sold out.
