Landmark Festival Gets Surprise Announcement
Music lovers everywhere were brought home this weekend.
Top Dawg Entertainment's SZA and Ab-Soul, Snoop Dogg and Andra Day took the stage at the Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, where Stevie Wonder headlined opening night with 130-minutes of straight melody.
“I saw my name next to Stevie Wonder and I flipped my f---ing wig,” fellow performer/"Take Me to Church" singer Hozier told Billboard.
Rihanna brought together both hemispheres for her Tidal show, #ROCKinRIO, where she shouted out Brazil and her native Barbados. "Yes! United, we're all in this motherf**er together," she proclaimed.
Ariana Grande and Chris Martin hit a duet of her "Just A Little Bit of Your Heart" at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, where Beyoncé delighted fans with an Ed Sheeran-supported version of "Drunk in Love."
Kanye West went in on night two of his 808s and Heartbreak revival.
And in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., R. Kelly didn't lose any momentum from his Barclays stop as a trio of superstardom brought fans to the first-ever Landmark Festival, where Drake performed his "Twitter fingers" line alongside a sign language interpreter. Miguel sealed his shirtless set with a command ("Promise me, you'll always be yourself," he said). And Wale, the homegrown hero, delivered a special announcement: he's planning Walepalooza.
"I might bring J. Cole," he said of his former Roc Naiton brethren, before jumping into the massive crowd.
Run the Jewels (new music) and Kendrick Lamar close out Life Is Beautiful on Sunday.
