Pharrell Chats About Being a Fashion Icon with WSJ Magazine
Pharrell is looking sleek and stoic on the latest cover of the Wall Street Journal Magazine, but the "Happy" singer has a lot to celebrate. Not only has he had success in the studio, but his collaborations with top companies like Adidas, Uniqlo, and now G-Star Raw as well his own fun fashion sense has regaled the artist as a style icon. In his interview with the magazine, for which he donned a $4,100 Dior Homme jacket, Pharrell said he's rather embarrassed by the title.
"It embarrasses me a bit to be a figure in fashion," he said. "I think everyone is interested in what they put on, even if you dress conservatively. Whatever you’re trying to mask, the mask itself says something about your personality."
Despite how he feels about being a fashion role model, Pharrell continues to make waves in the industry. His latest contribution, Raw for the Oceans in collaboration with G-Star Raw, just launched during New York Fashion Week and in a recent interview with W, the singer hailed denim as the It fabric of all time.
"Denim is one of the most cherished fabrics on Earth," Pharrell said. "And we have created the next generation."
The new eco-friendly line is made of Bionic Yarn, which is created from recycled ocean plastic. To view the entire collection, click here.
