Two University of Texas wide receivers have been suspended for their alleged roles in a sexual assault last month.

Texas coach Charlie Strong suspended senior Kendall Sanders and junior Montrel Meander indefinitely after both players were charged with sexual assault Thursday.

"We've been monitoring and addressing the situation with Kendall [Sanders] and Montrel [Meander] since it was brought to our attention," said Strong in a statement, as reported by CBS Sports. "It's been made clear to everyone on our team that treating women with respect is one of our core values, and I'm extremely disappointed that two young men in our program have been accused of not doing that. With the recent charges against them, they have been suspended indefinitely from our football team and will no longer participate in any team functions."

According to court documents obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, the alleged assault took place June 21 after the alleged victim returned home with Meander and had consensual sex with him.

It was then that Sanders was allegedly allowed in the room by Meander. When Meander went into the bathroom, Sanders allegedly forced himself on the woman, despite her telling him she didn’t want to have sex with him. Meander then reportedly returned to the room and both players “forcibly penetrated the victim” according to court documents.

After the alleged victim left the room, she was discovered crying under a desk by University police officers.
