Licensing Company Demands that Britney Spears Be Deposed
Britney Spears might have a slight scheduling conflict if a judge orders her to sit in for a deposition. Licensing company, Brand Sense, is suing the pop star and her father, Jamie Spears, for $10 million for breaching a contract that entitles them to 35 percent commission from sales of her Elizabeth Arden perfume collection. The company, which brokered the deal with Elizabeth Arden, claims that they stopped receiving royalties and demand that the singer show up to testify in court.
The judge previously ruled that Spears does not need to be present for the deposition, but Brand Sense says that if the singer can take on the grueling task of an international tour, media appearances, promotional campaigns and care for her children, then she's physically, mentally and emotionally capable of testifying.
Spears is currently on her Femme Fatale tour with Nicki Minaj through November. A hearing is scheduled for July 11 to determine if Spears will be deposed.
