DJ Premier Talks Joint Album With Nas
A joint album with Nas is "coming," DJ Premier said during the A3C Hip-Hop Festival in Atlanta over the weekend.
Premier and Nasir's work on Illmatic is touted among hip hop's most classic albums, and their full-length collaboration has been hanging in the balance for a few years now.
"I just saw him last week," Premo revealed to Where's My 40 Acres, explaining that he and the Queens MC are in communication, but scheduling conflicts are holding up the project. "He has another project to drop on Def Jam, and then he's a free agent. I'll let him get that out, and that will give me time to get my artists prepped and ready so … maybe we can all tour together."
God's Son will be "in charge" of everything including the guest list, Premier added, when asked if AZ, another longtime Nas collaborator, will be involved. "I'm just the producer," he said.
The legendary producer/DJ first teased the joint album at Rock the Bells back in 2011 and jokingly told Hip-Hop DX that the release would be named Finally.
Nas hasn't weighed in just yet.
