Tyra Banks Shuts Down the Victoria's Secret Runway Nearly 20 Years After Her Legendary Exit
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show returned with a bang on Tuesday (Oct. 15), and with it came an iconic comeback—Tyra Banks was back on the runway!
Nearly 20 years after retiring from modeling, the 50-year-old made her highly anticipated return to the catwalk during the star-studded show in New York City.
Banks, who had walked in nine Victoria’s Secret shows before calling it quits in 2005, had the crowd going crazy as she strutted down the legendary runway to “Native New Yorker.” She was dressed in a silver cape, crystal-crusted bustier, and sparkly leggings.
Her return wasn’t a surprise. Before the show, Banks and fellow model Gigi Hadid teased the event with an Instagram sketch video in August, showing Hadid's starstruck reaction to Banks' invitation to the runway.
This year’s show, which was originally canceled in 2019, marked the “America’s Next Top Model” creator’s 10th appearance with Victoria’s Secret. Reflecting on her return, she expressed just how surreal it felt to step back into the spotlight in a joint Instagram post with the brand last month. “It feels crazy being back on the Victoria’s Secret runway,” she said. “I mean ‘cray cray,’ as in ‘cray cray good.’ I never thought that I would be back on this runway, to be honest.”
In addition to Banks’ triumphant return, the show featured other stunning moments. Cardi B graced the show with an all-pink look, while Tyla made her debut performance on the runway, wearing feather wings and glittering lingerie. She performed her viral hit "Water" alongside her new track "PUSH 2 START."
