Tory Lanez Faces Backlash for Mocking Court Reporter Meghann Cuniff in Album Teaser

The deluxe edition teaser for Lanez's "Alone At Prom" draws mixed reactions as it features a claymation version of Cuniff, the journalist who covered his trial and conviction. While some found it amusing, others criticized the portrayal.

Tory Lanez is catching heat for mocking court reporter Meghann Cuniff, who famously covered his trial and conviction, in a new teaser for the deluxe edition of his album Alone At Prom.

The teaser was uploaded to the Toronto rapper’s Instagram on Tuesday (November 7) and features what many believe is the journalist in claymation form performing a breaking news segment.

The clip shows the unflattering news anchor announcing the return of Ashton Rain, a fictional character featured on Lanez’s 2021 album Alone At Prom.

Classy, per usual, Cuniff retweeted a Twitter user’s posting of the teaser and the caption: “Hmmm what do you all think? Me or nah? 😂🙄🥰”

Others though, were not so happy with the depiction. Check out what folks had to say below.

This is just the latest example of Tory disparaging Cuniff. In July, he lashed out against her via social media, he wrote via his team: “With all due respect, please disregard anything Megan Cuniff [sic] reports on Tory Lanez. Her objective, perspective/narrative has always been negative and extremely biased towards him. If there is an update on Tory, it will come from this first. If it doesn’t come from this page, it’s not real. With love – The Umbrella.”
