Doug Jones has officially defeated reported racist, sexist and sexual predator Roy Moore in Alabama's special election for the United States Senate.

The detail many are celebrating, subsequently, is Black women's overarching contribution to the victorious outcome, and several celebrities are chiming in on their massive involvement in the necessary win. In fact, the victory inspired award-winning director Ava DuVernay to hint at the possibility of her directing a sequel to her classic film Selma.

According to CNN Politics, Black women headed to the polls in droves in Alabama, providing 30 percent of the overall vote and voting more than 90 percent for the Jones. The report indicated that the majority of the recorded Caucasian voters voted for Moore.

DuVernay, overjoyed by the news, took to Twitter to share her prospective involvement in the Selma sequel before expressing her gratitude to the Alabama community.
