Are You Here for This? Charlamagne Explains Why He Sat Down With Tomi Lahren
Charlamagne Tha God was slammed left and right over the weekend for — publicly — hanging out with conservative and problematic host Tomi Lahren in New York. While everyone from his peer Ebro Darden to the majority of the social media population had something to say about the meeting, the Breakfast Club co-host has now decided to explain why he chose to rub shoulders with Lahren.
"Do you want diplomacy or do you want division," he asked on the morning show. "I'm talking to Tomi because I care about the rhetoric that comes out of her mouth, because she has influence. The narrative she paints about Black Lives Matter is dangerous. The same way people can hit her up on social media and tell her how wrong she is, I can meet with her [in person] and tell her the same things. I don't like talking about people. I like talking to them."
The notoriously outspoken media personality went on to explain that he and Tomi aren't necessarily friends, but he doesn't believe at all that she's racist, but is rather misinformed.
"I chose to inform her," he said. "I don't know if she's going to change or not. I just know I did my due diligence and had that conversation with her."
In closing, he said that, after their conversation, if she continues to spew hate towards Black people and the Black Lives Matter movement, "F her."
