The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is giving away honorary Oscars. The organization says that Oprah Winfrey, James Earl Jones and makeup artist Dick Smith will be honored with Oscar statuettes at the Governors Awards in November.
The academy's Board of Governors voted Tuesday to recognize the trio with honorary Oscars for their individual achievements.
According to Radar Online, Winfrey will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which honors philanthropic and humanitarian contributions. The former talk show host, who now runs OWN, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for 1985's The Color Purple.
James Earl Jones was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his 1971 performance in The Great White Hope.
They will receive their statuettes on November 12.
