Queen Latifah's Talk Show Set for Fall 2013 Premiere
Queen Latifah's long-awaited daytime talk show finally has a premiere date. The Queen Latifah Show, executive produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, will begin airing in fall 2013 on CBS, Deadline.com reports.
The show will feature "celebrity interviews, human interest stories, comedy, pop culture and musical performances. It is expected to showcase Queen Latifah’s talents, blending comedy and music into her hosting duties," according to a release.
This isn't Latifah's first foray onto the talk show circuit. She anchored another series, also called The Queen Latifah Show, from 1999 to 2001. While the daytime talk landscape has gotten noticeably crowded lately, with Steve Harvey and Real Housewives of New York's Bethenny Frankel expected to expand their shows nationwide next year, one bold-faced name just dropped out: Anderson Cooper's show Anderson Live has been cancelled, the New York Times confirmed on Monday.
Latifah, whose adaptation of Steel Magnolias recently premiered to big numbers on Lifetime, is a busy bee: besides the upcoming daily show, she and partner Shakim Compere are also in production on a number of feature films through her company, Flavor Unit Entertainment.
